A video has been circulating
via email recently. It's called "Three Minutes of Inspiration" and is
about a boy with Down syndrome who made a difference at the supermarket
where he bags groceries.
His father helped him print out little "Thought for the Day"
messages for him to insert in his customer's grocery bags.
Before long, the register where he stood, had the most people waiting in line to
receive his notes.
Then other employees of that store started doing "little extras"
for their customers.
The spirit of service spread throughout the entire store.
Johnny the Bagger may or may not be a true story, but it is
a good one and it presents a good example for all of us, as
photographers, to follow.
Check it out by clicking on the link under the picture.

This photo was recently
submitted for SKPA Accreditation review by Cristine Baetz, Detroit, MI.
One judge was not fond of it and gave it a low score. However, another
judge, Laura Popiel of Houston, TX, adored it, because it shows
the toes of a child with Down syndrome. Popiel, being a mother of a
Downs child, is enchanted with their unique fingers and toes. She calls
them "little sausages" and can give you endless adorations of the
darling little appendages.
Knowing this little-publicized factoid about the disorder, one can
see that the boy in the video (link below) doesn't have sausage fingers
or jellybean toes and is most likely a "typical child," not one with
Downs syndrome, but it's still a great video!

The bottom line: get to know what your parents will love to see in a
photograph. |
