Pacific Life Foundation, the
charitable arm of this Newport Beach, CA-based life insurance company,
has awarded SKPA a grant that will provide photographic assistance to
deserving families of children with special needs. Funding will be
available beginning February 1.
Paciific Life is known for recognizing the importance of helping
communities address and resolve their problems and has a record of
community involvement that spans the 139 year history of the company.
Pac Life has previously provided generous support to SKPA,
beginning with our first "pilot workshop" in 2001. The $10,000 grant
from Pacific Life Foundation made it possible for a small, grassroots
organization to get off to a "running start."
The company has an annual $4.6 million charitable giving program as
well as generous volunteer activity by Pacific Life's employees.
For the first half of 2008, funding to assist 20 families will be
made available.
Here's how it works: First of all, a photographer must be
accredited with Special Kids Photography of America to be eligible to
participate. Together with the photographer, the parent must complete
the application form and be accepted by the SKPA review committee. There
may be a small application fee involved, depending on final decision by
the SKPA Board of Directors. That fee may be paid by the photographer or
other benefactor, if desired.
The photographer must submit completed photo to SKPA before being
reimbursed $100 for the session fee and 8x10 print.
Complete instructions will be available upon request. This news
makes for one more good reason to become accredited with Special Kids
Photography of America! |

How cute is this! This adorable image was
captured by Kevin Newsome. Kevin has opened his studio to our workshop
in Tampa on Saturday (see below). This workshop will be very special,
because there will be a translator for the deaf there, signing for a
deaf photographer. |
