Host
a training in your area.
Call 623.572.0046 or email
for details. |
No
training offered in the area where you live? Take the initiative to
have a training come to your very own part of the country. We will
bring a full-day accreditation clinic to you.
Here are some
ideas of how to do it: |
-
Contact
your local PPA affiliation with the idea
-
Contact a
nearby photography school that provides professional training
-
Approach a
group that puts on a local convention
-
Arrange to
hold the clinic in your own studio (if large enough for at least 20-25
people) or find a place that will accommodate the number of persons
you feel will want to attend.
-
Advertise
and promote the event in local meetings
-
Send a
press release to newspapers or place a small ad in Rangefinder, etc.
(we have sample releases)
|
|
Basically, here is what is needed to stage
a training in your area:
-
Provide an
honorarium to the trainer (usually, $1,000 for the entire day)
-
Secure
travel expenses and accommodations to your area for the trainer
-
If you
want to donate a portion of the fees to Special Kids Photography of
America, and advertise it as a fundraising opportunity for SKPA be
certain you meet the
necessary requirements of the IRS
-
Plan far
enough ahead to allow time for sufficient marketing of the event
(usually, a minimum 4 month lead time)
-
Secure sponsorship
from national corporations (Kodak, Millers, Burrell, etc.) or local businesses
to help
fund your event and/or offset the fee for the attendees
|
|
What should you charge?
|
|
Does the clinic include
the Accreditation Test? Is it extra?
-
The
accreditation test is offered directly following the clinic. It
includes a "Child Portion" and a "Photography
Portion" (as it pertains to photographing special children)
-
The cost
of the testing portion and its review process is $50 per person,
directly payable to Special Kids Photography of America and is
collected directly before the test is administered or at the time of
registration in the morning, prior to the clinic
|
|
What is included in the
class, what is EXTRA?
-
You may
want to include lunch for your attendees (see below)
-
Photographing
Children With Special Needs
and class Accreditation Study Guide are not included in the
enrollment fee because many have purchased these materials in advance
for study purposes or they simply already have them. These
publications are available on the www.specialkidsphotography.com
website.
|
|
What should be included
in the tuition fee?
-
Most
hosting groups include lunch in cost of the tuition (allow for that in
your initial fee). Subway makes a good "boxed lunch" that
can be picked up just prior to lunch time (if orders for desired
sandwiches are placed at the beginning of the clinic and given to
Subway in the morning). The cost is under $7 and includes: sandwich,
chips and cookie. You may want to purchase drinks extra from a grocery
outlet.
