nformation for Conducting Accreditation Workshops

SKPA Accreditation Licensee Workshop Procedure

1.        Obtain approval and secure a date for the workshop with SKPA headquarters.

2.        Workshop date will be posted on the SKPA website.

3.        Order books for attendees

4.        Advertise for the workshop

5.        Send application to interested attendees. Accept payment for the class. Provide date, time, instruction offered.

6.        Immediately following the class (after short break), administer the tests.

7.        Within 3 days, send the tests, exam fee ($50 each) and donation ($20 each) to SKPA.

8.        SKPA will grade the tests, notify the students of the test results, and request a teacher evaluation from the student.

9.        Please keep in touch with your students, urging them to submit their photographs to complete accreditation.

Tuition
The basic tuition for the SKPA Accreditation workshop is $249. This amount usually includes travel expenses if the workshop is not located within reasonable driving distance from the instructor. “Special” promotions may be offered from time to time. Out of that amount, you need to consider deduction of the following:

ü        $20 Donation to SKPA

ü        $50 for the exam/photo review process

ü        Purchase of books (see below)

Books
Order books well in advance of the workshop date.
It may take as long as 4-8 weeks for you to receive the books via media mail. Also, SKPA does not stock large quantities of the study guides, requiring the need to print additional copies for larger orders. ORDER EARLY!  The two required books for the training are:

1.     Photographing Children with Special Needs, published by Amherst Media (ways to order)

a.  Directly from the publisher. Purchase by the case at a wholesale price (24 books per case). Check with Amherst regarding cost (716 874.4450 or jmurdock@amherstmedia.com).

b. Place an order with SKPA and pay by check. This book can be purchased from SKPA (435 627-1628 or info@specialkidsphotography.com). The price from SKPA is $20 per book (minimum 5 books) plus shipping and handling via USPS Media Mail. This can take 4-8 weeks to some parts of the country, so ORDER EARLY! The post office will not forward media mail unless you pay for the postage again; so make certain you provide the correct address. Other shipping arrangements may be made and charged accordingly.

c.  Order through PayPal on the SKPA website. PCSN is $27 on the SKPA website and includes shipping and handling. One book at a time may be ordered through PayPal.

d. Amazon.com. Check www.amazon.com for the current price of the book. They will add shipping.

2.    SKPA Accreditation Study Guide (ways to order)

a.  Place an order with SKPA and pay by check.  Cost of the study guide is $15 plus shipping and handling via USPA Media Mail. Refer to above regarding media mail time for delivery.

b. PayPal orders on the SKPA website. The study guide may only be ordered WITH PCSN, in other words, as a set. Cost of the set is $45 and includes shipping.

Workshop Location
There is no need to pay for a location. Use a studio, community center, camera store training room, local conference room or other free location. Remember, this is for a nonprofit “cause,” even though you, as a trainer are not operating under nonprofit status. Most agencies or businesses are willing to help out.

Teaching Regions
Workshop teaching regions are not yet set in stone; but please have respect for other trainers. Check the website for training locations and dates. Be sure to have your dates approved by SKPA before making any promises.
